Chocolate Addict: The Homemade Mocha

FOOD | 0

Don’t you love it when you have a random ah ha! moment? It seems silly but it just came to me. But first, let me tell you a story.

One semi-cold winter night, it’s Florida so we don’t really do that much “cold”, I was reading yet another amazon downloaded book. Curled up in bed with my cup of tea, the main girl in the book speaks of how rubbish her morning is so she’s going to add some hot chocolate to her coffee make to it a mocha. Life changing, probably not? Was I suddenly paying attention? Of course!

Being the easily influenced reader I am, tea was no longer sufficient. My character was drinking a mocha and by golly I was going to be doing the same. Luckily, I’ve been on a hot chocolate kick lately and I actually had good supplies on hand. After a rummage around my kitchen and patiently waiting for my decaf coffee to brew, I finally had my mocha. It was perfect! Now, I’m going to share that recipe with you.

Mocha Latte
Prep time
Total time
Super easy homemade mocha
Recipe type: Drinks
Serves: 1 latte
  • ¾ cup freshly brewed coffee
  • ½ cup almond or non-dairy milk
  • 2 tbsp hot chocolate powder
  • 2 tbsp non-dairy whipped cream
  1. Add coffee, almond milk and hot chocolate powder to blender.
  2. Blend until combined.
  3. Pour into coffee mug and top with whipped cream.
  4. Enjoy!

Depending on the size of your mug, you may want to change the amount of coffee used. I typically base my coffee amount by pouring it into my mug first so I don’t overrun it. Then I add it to the blend and mix everything up.

Super simple and so much cheaper than going out. Plus, who doesn’t want to drink coffee in their pjs?

Do you have a favorite coffee drink that you’ve perfected at home? Is there one you’d like to see here? Leave a note below and let me know.

Stay warm friends!
