When it comes to products, I want to love them all. I try my best to find the best in everything. But sometimes, try as hard as I might, things don’t quite work. Now I won’t say I hate any of these products. There are lovely things about each of them. However, I do know that I won’t be buying them again unless something changes.
Before we get started, I do want to say these products didn’t work for me. However, that doesn’t mean that they don’t work for others. I have friends who love one of more of the products below. However, for whatever reason, I found that these products didn’t perform the way I wanted them to work. Whether that’s because I have tried another product that is more amazing or the packaging was just bad. I know that some people do enjoy these products. This is just my opinion and experience with them. Let’s chat today about some products I really wanted to love more.
Arbonne Nourishing Facial Oil
If you’ve been around lately, you’ll know that I’m working on my green beauty life. And slowly but surely I’m finding amazing products to transition my skincare over. However, this isn’t one of them. I’m no strange to facial oils. Both Josie Maran’s Argan Milk* and May Lindstrom’s The Youth Dew* are two of my faves. But this oil did not work for me. Arbonne is an amazing brand and has tons of great products. Unfortunately, no brand is perfect. Personally this oil just didn’t sink into my skin. It always felt like it just hung out on top and that I couldn’t get it to absorb without adding something else. So as much as I wanted to love it, this product is definitely a pass.
For the last few years, my mother has struggled with a dry, flaky scalp. So on the recommendation of the staff at Ulta, we picked this product up. It’s definitely got the grit to do a bit of scrubbing. It just doesn’t add back in the moisture that is missing. And until we tried the Briogeo Scalp Revival*, I didn’t think such a product existed. The price point for the sugar shine system isn’t too bad. And it’s fairly easy to get ahold of in stores. But overall, it just didn’t do the job we needed.
I really really wanted to love this product. And I think they are people out there who probably will love it. But for me, it’s just doesn’t meet my dry shampoo needs. I blabbed about it in my dry shampoo overview last week, so I won’t go on forever. This product promises to be a dry shampoo, texture & volume spray. I’m someone who likes a heavier dry shampoo and this definitely feels more light than medium on the scale. I also recently feel in love with Amika’s Perk Up* and it just ticks all the boxes. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, then Dierct Flight might be for you. However, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it.
Hello Fluoride Toothpaste
Yes, I know toothpaste is incredibly random. But if I can save someone else a bit of frustration here, I’m happy to talk about it. The packaging on this toothpaste is awful. Everything else is lovely. I enjoyed using it. It wasn’t too strong. Plus, it a natural toothpaste. There was a whole lot of love that could be given to this item. Except I had the hardest time opening it every single day. If you have a flip lid on a toothpaste, I expect to be able to open it with one hand. Nope. I almost always had to use both hands to open my toothpaste tube up. Super frustrating and even worse if you have older parents with arthritis. I really wanted to love it but I couldn’t get past the packaging.
Schmidt’s Lavender & Sage Deodorant
I got along with this deodorant for a time. I thought things were swell and that I’d finally found a natural deodorant that worked for me. Negative. I don’t remember exactly when but I suddenly found one weekend that I had a rash under my arms. I decided to take a break for a few days just to see. And when I went back to it, the rash returned. Since then, I’ve heard a few people mention an ingredient in natural deodorants that can cause irritation for some people. Sadly, I’m one of them. So for now, I’ll keep on the hunt. Recommendations are definitely welcome.
Again, this is another product I had high hopes for. I think it’s amazing that Burt’s Bee is expanding their product line. But this mask just didn’t meet my expectations. Since I’ve fallen in love with the Dr. Jart’s Water Replenishment Mask*, I can’t help but compare everything else. The ingredients and price point for the Burt’s Bee mask is lovely. However, the product doesn’t give that level of hydration I really wanted from the mask. So despite being amazingly affordable, I won’t be buying this one again.
OGX Lavender Platinum Shampoo
It makes me happy when I can find affordable products that work well. I know that not all great products need a great price tag. And that’s why I really wanted to love this purple shampoo. In the grand scheme, it’s not all bad. This shampoo is easy to find and is priced under $6. But it just doesn’t do the job. It left my hair feeling dried out. There’s not enough tint in the shampoo to really do any toning. As a blonde who spends money to keep up my color, I know I can’t rely on this shampoo to help between sessions. Unfortunately, this product just didn’t find a who lot of love in my routine.
Lush Lip Scrub
And lastly, this is a product I know others love but I just didn’t get on with. I’m a regular matte lipstick wearer. I know that I’m going to need to exfoliate my lips every so often. And because of the rave reviews my friends have for this scrub, I wanted to love it. I also think because I feel in love with the Nurse Jamie’s NuLips RX* Combo, my standards were already set. I’m not super into sugar and I try to limit my consumption. This scrub is made with sugar and has you lick off the excess. Again, I whole heartedly know I’m comparing this product to another but it just didn’t perform in the way I wanted. Amazing taste. Fun ingredients. Great smell. Just not for me.
