Beachin’ It: 7 things to do on your next beach vacay

When I go on vacation, I have one rule that guides all my choices: do the things I can’t do at home. Now, of course, if it’s a rainy day, then I’ll happily add seeing a movie or reading a book into the mix but I still try to find a way around it first. Here’s the list of my 7 things to do on your next beach vacation:

Walk on the beach during a sunrise/sunset.

I live in a big city so watching the sunset/rise isn’t nearly as much as fun as watching it come over the horizon.

Beach yoga.

My schedule was so packed this time that I wasn’t able to make it happen this time but it’s on the top of my list to do when I’m back in Florida. I mean, how often can you do yoga on the beach?

Eat a meal with a beach view.

Really though, half the fun of the beach is just enjoying the view. No walls just miles of ocean in all its glory.

Paddleboard, kayaking, or parasailing

Last summer, we went paddleboarding in the Gulf of Mexico. I was sore for days but it was so much fun. Any or all of these are a blast to do with friends/family.

Eat where the locals do.

I’m from a beach town and I know that more often than not, I’ll do everything possible to avoid a tourist spot when home. Why? Because there’s a good chance the meal is overpriced or super packed. If you’re staying at a hotel or airbnb, ask your host where their favorite place is to eat. Chances are it will be somewhere local and not a chain you can get at home.

Rent a bike & ride around

This is one of my favorite things to do in Seaside, Rosemary or Aly’s Beach. We did this earlier this spring and had a blast. We stopped to take photos, laughed so much because we were all uncoordinated and made great memories. It’s the best!

Snorkle or scuba dive

How often do you get to explore and swim with the fishes? I know not everyone is certified to scuba dive but snorkeling it such a fun things to do! It’s a great way to stay active and it’s just so relaxing.

These are just a few of my favorite things to do on a beach trip. What are yours?

Xoxo, Savannah
